Elder

As an Elder, Rob is committed to serving the church and encouraging the fellowship in their walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Rob grew up in Doncaster but has lived with his wife, Anita, in the Derbyshire countryside for almost 30 years. He specialises in media and public relations and has worked in the NHS, financial services and local government.

Rob met Anita in 1990 while working for Sheffield Newspapers, and you could say it was love at first sight - they were engaged after just a week! In what proved to be a momentous year, Rob gave his heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ in October 1990. "I realised that despite being a hopeless sinner, Jesus had gone to the cross for me personally and died in my place. He loved me and gave Himself so that I might have a personal relationship with God. I have known peace and joy ever since. I know that whatever I go through Jesus is always with me" says Rob.

Anita became a Christian soon after, and the couple have served the Lord in a number of churches in South Yorkshire and the East Midlands over the last 36 years. They were called to Duffield Baptist Church in May 2024 and have been greatly blessed by the ministry and the love of the fellowship.

Deacon, Admin and Tech

I was born in Birmingham, grew up in Staffordshire, went to University in Nottingham and eventually settled n Derby in 2010 when I married my wife, Marie - so it's fair to say I'm a Midlander! We have three children and a rescue dog that help to keep us busy! I have worked in local government for over 20 years in a number of roles.

I grew up attending church, but fell away as a teenager, but God didn't leave and eventually I came to faith and was baptised in 2009. We were previously members of Woodlands Church, Derby, where I was a home-group leader for many years. We felt called to move to Duffield in the summer of 2023 and haven't looked back! I have taken on some of the administrative duties of the Deacons, and controlling the 'tech' on a Sunday morning.

Deacon and Treasurer

Welcome, I’m Steve.

I was born in Derby, some time ago and grew up in a non Christian family.

God introduced Himself to me through a fellow college student at the age of 23 and I’ve been a Christian since 1989.

My new life means everything to me.

God’s gift of the Holy Bible that teaches us about God’s character. The gift of being able to talk to Him through prayer. The gift of the Holy Spirit that fills our hearts and the gift of salvation through our Lord Jesus.

My wife and myself have five children and six grandchildren that keep us busy in retirement.

My career was spent in the engineering and aviation but now, outside church, I enjoy spending time gardening, walking, watching sport and meeting with friends for coffee, cake and a chat.

Deacon and Joint Youth Work Organiser

I am the fabric Deacon and joint youth work organiser, I look after the maintenance and upkeep of the church. Together with my wife I run the BB & GA, I've been at DBC 6 years and was a Deacon in my church in Essex for over 30 years. I became a Christian aged 18 when a gradual realisation of my need for a Saviour became so clear to me. I felt that God was more than a Sunday duty and a name in a book. My faith became the main focus of my life.

I have served on a year-long Mission in Madagascar with A. I. M. and continue to support a church and orphanage in Likoni, Kenya. My eldest son was a missionary in Uganda with BMS and we have been able to visit and support his work as an environmental engineer drilling fresh water wells in remote villages. I am a committed supporter of Operation Christmas Child and have been to Moldova recently to be part of the shoebox distribution team.
